Can a Brow Lift Fix Hooded Eyes?

Forehead lift is designed to smooth creases across the brow and lift sagging eyelids (“hooded eyes”) helping to improve both aesthetics and vision in adults whose sight has been obscured by droopy eyebrows. While not a medically necessary procedure, brow lift does offer some functional benefits in addition to a smoother and more youthful-looking forehead.

More than eliminating creases from the forehead and lifting eyebrows, a brow lift can reduce the appearance of frown lines. Also known as “11s,” these are the vertical lines in between eyebrows that can make you look eternally disapproving. Reducing frown lines can help produce a softer appearance and when combined with more ideally placed eyebrows, can give a more agreeable look to the entire upper face.

Lifting Eyelids

Brow lift surgery will lift eyebrows but is not designed to lift droopy eyelids. To address this common concern, many people choose to combine brow lift surgery with blepharoplasty. In addition to lifting sagging eyelids, blepharoplasty can eliminate eyelid wrinkles and remove dark circles and puffy skin from beneath the eyes. When combined with a forehead lift, this can produce a considerably more youthful, attentive, and rested look.

Is Brow Lift Surgery Covered by Insurance?

Brow lift surgery can help clear vision that is being obstructed by drooping eyelids but is not typically covered by medical insurance. Blepharoplasty, on the other hand, can lift drooping eyelids to help improve vision and is sometimes covered by vision insurance. It is best to check with your plan administrator to learn if a procedure is covered before you rely on insurance for payment.
